This fall, on October 17, the Andrejs Žagars Cultural Development Foundation presents the now traditional opera music Gala Concert “Friends to Andrejs Žagars” at the Vidzeme Concert Hall “Cēsis”. This year the foundation is once again offering the public the chance to enjoy the work of the world’s most in-demand artists. One of the world’s leading tenors, Pavel Černoch, will perform an exclusive solo concert at the Vidzeme Concert Hall “Cēsis”. The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Jaroslav Kyzlink.

Pavel Černoch is greeted with ovations at the world’s leading opera houses – Teatro alla Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Paris Opera, the Dutch National Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, as well as at the Salzburg Festival, Glyndebourne Festival and other opera houses and concert halls. He often collaborates with the most renowned conductors in the world – Daniel Barenboim, Kirill Petrenko, Simon Rattle, Andris Nelsons, John Eliot Gardiner, Charles Dutoit and Semyon Bychkov. In the past seasons Pavel Černoch has had outstanding roles in multiple operas, including the Leipzig Opera and the Bavarian State Opera, where the tenor performed alongside the Boston Symphony Orchestra and conductor Andris Nelsons.

The charismatic singer began his professional stage journey in his birthplace, Czechia, Brno, with a role in the opera “The Magic Flute”, followed by a performance in Prague. In the beginning stages of his career, the young opera singer’s talent was spotted and especially highlighted by Andrejs Žagars, inviting the tenor to perform in Riga. After that, the artist’s road led him to Cagliari, Athens, Graz and Vienna. Now Pavel Černoch has become one of the most in-demand opera soloists in the world.

The Andrejs Žagars Cultural Development Foundation continues the work of its founder, Andrejs Žagars, by organising significant cultural events and giving Latvian audiences the opportunity to experience the world’s most outstanding and in-demand artists in exclusive concerts. The concert “Friends to Andrejs Žagars” traditionally takes place in October, when Andrejs Žagars would celebrate his birthday. This fall the concert “Friends to Andrejs Žagars” will happen for the eighth time.
